The Pious Caliphs is a medium sized book on the life of the Khulafa-ur-Rasyidin (Abu Bakar, Umar, Uthman and Ali).
Although selective, it gives detailed accounts of events during the rules of these greatest companions of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. It is especially good reading when it deals the conflicts between the companions in a very objective and impartial manner without demonizing certain groups of the companions as some other history books.
